On the shores of Nordfjord, where glaciers glitter through narrow valleys and mountains plunge dramatically into fjords, you will find a little town called Innvik. A little town with just 500 inhabitants. It was in this rough and rugged fjord landscape in the West of Norway the Skogstad family decided to start making clothing to protect from the harsh Norwegian elements.
It was 1937. We had no idea where to start, but we did it for our neighbours, because in Innvik, we look after each other. From the freezing temperatures when chopping wood in the winter, to the driving rain when operating the saws. This is how Skogstad was created, shaped by the wind and rain - Tailored by nature.
Generations of passionate hand craftsmen have been inspired by the nature that surrounds them.
Since that time we have developed our products in partnership with nature. Through good and bad weather, generations of passionate hand craftsmen have been inspired by the nature that surrounds them. We have developed and refined everything from technical jackets to protect against the elements up in the mountains, to all-in-one suits for children who want to play outside in the winter, and base layers and durable casual wear to keep you warm no matter what the temperature.
We promise to make clothing for whatever your next adventure, no matter if it’s climbing a mountain or a walk in the country, and to make it easier for people of all ages to experience the joy and beauty of the nature around them.
We call this joy and contentment in nature uteglede.
